I mostly read blogs through Google Reader but lately I have been thinking that my selection is becoming a little stale. I want to mix it up a little bit, what blogs should I be reading? I like economics blogs but I like/get ideas from all kinds of blogs. What I am aiming for is a minimal spanning set.
Epilogue: Thanks for all the great suggestions! Keep them coming.

I’d recommend Farnam Street http://www.farnamstreetblog.com/
It’s rather eclectic but totally thought provoking.

Might help if you gave us an idea of what’s already on your list. 🙂

All come immediately to mind if you want to stick close to econ/tech stuff. Each is excellent, with Steve Waldmann probably scratching out the top spot.

I’ve recently just done the same thing. I cut out the unhelpful news blogs I followed. I found a great literature site : http://www.themillions.com/ . Lots of interesting insight into a topic I don’t deal with as an economics student.

Not econ: Atul Gawande @the new yorker (no RSS), Bruce Schneier, Jonathan Baron
econ blogs you might not have: D Romer; Brynjolfsson; Mike Shor; Ayres, Wolfers, et al now have separate feeds at Freakonomics

You might be amused by my new blog for my startup: http://blog.beeminder.com if you ignore the weight loss advice posts. The first post and the most recent post are about commitment devices.

I have put together a list of blogs that concentrate on research, instead of politics. I hope to move soon to a list of posts instead of blogs. http://econacademics.org/

I have no particular recommendation, but Google Reader itself has lots of recommendations — in a desktop browser, look in the left pane at http://www.google.com/reader, and you should see both “Browse for stuff” and “Explore”. Those links contain tons of recommendations (most of which, in my experience, are lousy, but hey, they’re free 🙂

Of those not mentioned above, “Worthwhile Canadian Initiative” (worthwhile.typepad.com) has been steadily improving and I find myself spending more and more time there.

Overthinking It. Over-analysis of pop-culture artifacts. Not economics, but occasionally takes an economic perspective, and fun and interesting besides.

Hey,
Totally second the recommendation of Farnam Street.
I’ve lost many an hour of sleep pouring over their articles on psychology, behavioral economics, human misjudgment, and persuasion.

But how can you get in on it if you’re on a Windows PC or a Mac.
Note that Adobe package an auto-updater tool with this software,
so if you’re happy to let it check for upgrades to the next version
you can, otherwise this feature can be disabled. One project relates to the department of environment & forests whereas the remaining 14 are earmarked for
